Updated: Aug 5

Unfortunately, the public toilets closest to the beach huts are temporarily closed following a suspected arson fire in the surrounding grassland.

The beach huts themselves are completely unaffected and remain open as normal.

We've contacted Tendring District Council for further information and will share any updates as soon as we receive them.

In the meantime, the nearest alternative toilets are:

📍 Brighton Road Public Toilets, CO15 5TB - approximately a 9 minute walk from Beach Haven Cafe (no disabled access)

Directions: Keep the sea on your left and walk towards Beach Haven Cafe. From the cafe, head up the slope to the top promenade, where you’ll find the toilets opposite Brighton Road on Kings Avenue

Accessible Toilet Facilities:

📍 Queensway Public Toilets, The Seafront, Lower Promenade, Kings Parade, Holland-on-Sea, CO15 5JF - approximately a 24 minute walk along the bottom promenade / or a short drive to the top promenade, then walk down a slope to the lower promenade

📍 Lyndhurst Road Public Toilets, CO15 5DE – Close to Eastcliff playing fields, adjacent to Gunfleet Sailing Club and opposite Hazelmere car park. Approximately 31 minutes walk or a short drive from the car park

📍 Kingscliff Hotel, CO15 5JB and The Golden Fillet, CO15 5UR

Both also have toilet facilities available with disabled access

Changing Places Toilet

There is also a Changing Places toilet near Beach Haven Cafe. Please note that this facility is not open for general public use. If you need access, you'll need to apply to Tendring District Council for a key. You can find more information and the application form here:

All guests with upcoming bookings are being sent this information before they arrive

We're sorry for any inconvenience and appreciate your understanding. We hope the facilities can be reopened as soon as possible, and we'll keep you updated as soon as we know more.
