Planning a day at one of my beach huts? Whether you're a seasoned hutter or it’s your first time, packing the right items can turn a good beach day into a brilliant one!
To help you get the most out of your time at Holland-on-Sea, here’s a handy guide to what I’d recommend bringing with you...
The Basics
Beach towels – Great for drying off after a dip or laying out in the sun.
Suncream – The sea air can be deceiving – don’t forget to reapply!
Sunglasses & a hat – Protect your eyes and keep cool in the sun.
Swimming items – Swimsuits, trunks, and maybe even a wetsuit if you're brave enough for a paddle!
Flip-flops or beach shoes – Handy for walking over hot sand or stones.
Change of clothes – Especially useful if you have little ones with you.
Wrap up warm – Don't forget to pack layers, a warm hat, gloves, jumper and coat. Even on warm days, the temperature can drop in the evenings.
Food and Drinks
Bring your favourite picnic bits or travel light and treat yourself at one of the local spots! Just a 5-minute walk from the huts is a lovely outdoor cafe called The Beach Haven Cafe that serves sandwiches, ice cream, and drinks. Cash only.
And if you fancy dinner, there’s a great fish & chip shop just a 5-minute drive from the car park, called The Golden Fillet
Cool bag with drinks – There’s no fridge in the huts, so a cool bag or box is ideal for keeping things fresh.
Relaxation & Entertainment
A good book or magazine – Perfect for reading while listening to the waves.
Beach games – We provide bucket & spades, but feel free to bring extras like bat & ball, frisbee, or beach tennis. Great for kids (and grown-ups too!).
Bringing Your Dog
The beach is dog-friendly all year round, and our huts are too! Just make sure to pack:
Lead & poo bags – Essentials for walks and clean-ups.
Treats & a water bowl – Keep your furry friend hydrated and happy.
A towel – Handy for drying off sandy paws or a post-splash pup.
My Top Tip: Bring a Portable Phone Charger
We know how easy it is to take just one more photo or check the tide times—and before you know it, your battery’s gone! A portable charger is a handy little lifesaver if you plan to spend the whole day soaking up the sunshine.
What’s Included in Your Beach Hut
We’ve stocked our beach huts with everything you need for a relaxing, fun-filled seaside escape. Here’s what’s waiting for you:

Saucepan, frying pan & cooking utensils – Handy if you’d like to cook

(Please note: no sharp knives or bowls are provided)
Tea, coffee, sugar & long-life milk sachets – Just bring your favourite biscuits!
Small beach parasol, windbreaker & mallet – For shade and shelter as needed
